THE HELM

Built for Jesse Carmichael of Maroon 5, The Helm is a private studio located in Los Angeles, California. The studio was designed by a well known acoustician, but after its completion, the room exhibited a number of serious acoustic problems that made it close to unusable for any professional setting. Jay of Kaufman & Associates was brought in to resolve these issues, transforming the room into a professional acoustic environment. Understandably, Jesse did not want any significant changes done to the aesthetic of the room, and because the room had just been finished, was also hoping to have it fixed cost effectively.
With a carefully designed acoustic cloud and corner traps, the room modes that were negatively impacting the sound of the environment were mitigated. Jesse couldn’t be happier with the end results.
